A basic definition of epigenetics is the study of the epigenome. It focuses on reversible changes of gene expression, or phenotype, without change in the DNA sequence. In other words, it's the study of the correlation of genes and phenotypes and what affects them. These changes may happen spontaneously in response to the presence of a certain allele or a person's environment (7). But wait a minute, our genes determine what we look like, doesn't it?
